The short version: Simple Pitch Counter does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything you enter stays on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, and no analytics.
Overview
Simple Pitch Counter ("the App") is an iOS application designed to help coaches, parents, and volunteers track pitch counts and catcher innings during baseball and softball games.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
Information We Collect
We do not collect any information.
The App operates entirely on your device. All data you enter — including game records, player names, jersey numbers, pitch counts, scores, and configuration settings — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's standard local storage (localStorage within a WKWebView). This data:
- Never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or email it
- Is not accessible to us or any third party
- Is not backed up to any external server by the App itself
- May be included in your device's standard iCloud or iTunes backup if you have those enabled
Data You Choose to Share
The App includes features that allow you to voluntarily share data:
- Email game summaries: When you use the "Email" button in the App, it opens your device's native Mail app with a pre-filled message. The App does not send this email — your Mail app does. The recipient, content, and transmission are entirely under your control.
- Export CSV: When you export game history as a CSV file, the file is generated on your device. You choose how and where to share it.
We do not receive copies of any summaries or exports you send.
Analytics and Tracking
The App does not include any analytics, tracking SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash reporting tools. We do not use:
- Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or any analytics service
- Facebook SDK, Google Ads, or any advertising network
- Crashlytics, Sentry, or any crash reporting service
- Any third-party SDK that accesses your data
Children's Privacy
The App may be used to record information about youth athletes (names and jersey numbers). We want to be clear: this data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us. The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The App is intended for use by adults (coaches, parents, league officials).
We recommend not entering full last names of minors in the App as a best practice, though this is at your discretion.
Apple App Store
When you download the App from the Apple App Store, Apple may collect certain information as part of the download process. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours.
This Website
This website (simplepitchcounter.com) may collect basic web server logs (IP addresses, pages visited, browser type) as part of normal web server operation on our self-hosted server. These logs are used only for server administration and are not shared with third parties. This website does not use cookies for tracking purposes.
The contact form on this site transmits your name and email address solely to allow us to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list or share your information.
Data Retention and Deletion
Since all App data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:
- Deleting individual game records within the App
- Deleting the App from your iPhone, which removes all associated local data
For contact form inquiries sent through our website, you may request deletion of your message by contacting us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note it in App Store release notes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
